So in December, while us vaalies decended on Durbs, we went to the Oyster Box for High tea for my mum's birthday. what a delicious day we had!
The Oyster Box was originally built in 1947 and was said to be a the Zulu Kings favourite haut. The hotel, as well as its three restaurants reopened in October 2009 after a two-year refit. The interior remains loyal to its colonial roots and the original charms still remains in its redecoration.
The Oyster Box has three restaurants with sea views and the Ocean Terrace has been decorated in colonial style in keeping with the origins of the hotel: clean white marble floors, white interior coving and turquoise Turkish hand painted tiles which frame the wood oven on the back wall. There is a stunning veranda which opens out onto a balcony which has uninterrupted views of the ocean.
