i just don't know why

I was once asked what I loved about Interior Design, and I thought about it and I couldn't put into words what I loved about what I was studying, all I knew is that something inside me excited me about this field. I responded by saying: Im not entirely sure, I just get excited when I see people being creative withing spaces, I love seeing new products, fabrics and furniture which enhance a design, but it goes way beyond these finishing touches. I love feeling comfortable in a space but i also love being drawn into a space and my attention being kept and my eye being carried around the space.I love that the field is so diverse, but this response didn't even capture my passion for what i do.

Interior Design has a very glamourous appeal, and has he impression that we pick carpets, curtains, wall colours and textures, and we just play around with furniture layouts. This to Designers is rather insulting, yes that is part of our job, but only a fraction of what we do, this is done to enhance out designs, to add to them. Ineterior Designers deal with the architectural structure, the building materials, lighting and finishes. Electrics and plumbing are dealt with on some projects too. We space plan and look at how people function and perform certain tasks within a space. Interior Designers work on designing offices, hotels, clubs, boutiques, banks, restaurants, exhibition stands and retail (being shops).

I just love this. Such a rad idea, all for displaying lights! This was an exhibition for Modular Lighting Instruments which was exhibited at the 22nd International Design Biannle in Belgium.

What makes this even more fun is that its a human scale Pin-ball machine which is lit by LED lights. The layout od the display was divided into the different categories in their catalogue: Orientation, Accent, General and Dynamic. Making it easy for the "players" (potential buyers) to pay attention to the lights and not only the design. This exhibit also used 70% less energy than the exhibit did in 2008, so way to go on energy efficiency!

 Loving the store front too!
